Terah Tali Dance

Teerah Taali :
The Kamad community of Pokhran and Deedwana perform this dance in honoui of theft deity, Baba Ramdeo. A rather unusual performance where the men play a four-stringed instrument called a chau-tara and the women sit with dozens of manjeeras, or cymbals, tied on i over their bodies and strike them with the ones they hold in their hands. Sometimes, the womer also hold a sword between their teeth or place pots with lighted lamps on their heads.

तेरहताली नृत्य राजस्थान का प्रसिद्ध लोक नृत्य है। यह कामड जाती द्वारा किया जाता है। शिव के ताल और पारवती के लय से ताल शब्द बना है । कामड़ जाती की स्त्रियाँ शरीर पर तेरह मन्जीरे बान्ध कर इस नृत्य को करती है। पुरुष रामदेव और हिन्ग्लाज के भजन गाते हैं। यह लोक नृत्य परम्परा से कामड जाती करती आ रही है।यह राजस्थान का एकमात्र नृत्य है जो बैठकर किया जाता है।इसमे 9 मंजीरे दाहिने पैर मे,2 मंजीरे कोहनी पर तथा 2 मंजीरे हाथों मे पहने जाते हैं।

इसमे नर्तकी अपने मुह में तलवार या कटार दबाकर नृत्य करती है जो हिंगलाज माता का प्रतीक है।

Members of the Kamada tribe perform Terah Taali Dance which is one of the ancient and most popular Rajasthani folk dances and is performed with Manjeeras and other musical instruments. This dance form depicts the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan and is a predominantly female performance. In this performance, Manjeeras are tied to 13 different parts of the performers’ body. These Manjeeras’ sounds create the 13 beats or Terah Taali. This beautiful dance form is depicted in a breathtaking manner and can only be performed by professional dancers. It is also performed in the temple of the legendary Ramdeoji located in Runecha.

Terahtali Dance
The Terahtali dance is a very fascinating and unusual dance of Rajasthan. It is considered as a devotional form of dance and it is performed by women folk in a sitting posture. It is termed as Terahtali" as terah (thirteen) manjeeras or cymbals are used to create rhythm on which, the dancers move. Manjeeras are tied on their wrists, elbows, waists, arms and a pair in their hands as well. The women with dexterous and fine movements dance at a strong rhythm on the beats of Manjeeras, whereas, the male accompanists sing and play on theTandoora`. Sometimes, they may hold a sword between their teeth or do the balancing act of holding of pots or lighted lamps on their heads. The Kamad community of Rajasthan is privileged to perform it. This community people perform it to pay homage to their hero Baba Ramdev. In this dance form, women sit on the floor in front of the image of Baba Ramdev & perform various steps.

तेरहताली नृत्य व इतिहास : तेरहताली नृत्य पाली, नागौर एवं जैसलमेर जिले की कामड़ जाति की महिलाओं द्वारा बाबा रामदेव की अराधना में तेरह मंजीरों की सहायता से किया जाने वाला प्रसिद्ध पेशेवर नृत्य है। जिसमें नौ मंजीरे दायें पाँव पर, दो हाथों की कोहनी के ऊपर और एक-एक दोनों हाथों में होते हैं। यह पुरुषों के साथ मंजीरा, तानपुरा व चौतारा वाद्य यंत्रों की संगत में किया जाता है। के समय स्त्रियाँ हाथों में मंजीरा बांधकर प्रहार कर मधुर ध्वनि उत्पन्न कर लय बनाती है। ‘मांगीबाई’ और ‘लक्ष्मणदास कामड़’ तेरहताली नृत्य के प्रमुख नृत्यकार हैं। 1990 में मांगीबाई को संगीत नाटक अकादमी पुरस्कार प्रदान किया गया।
